Understanding the risks of getting cosmetic surgery is a little tricky – why? Because it’s always something that you imagine “happens to someone else”. For the most part, this is just human psychology, and maybe there’s something to it, because it’s true to an extent i.e. only a very small number of people have this happen to them, and mostly likely, it is “someone else” and not you.

Nevertheless, the risks and possible problems need to be identified and doctors and patients need to bluntly address them and put them out in the open – things such as blood clotting, damaged organs (via cannula mishaps), weird skin sensitivity, and more.

Liposculpture – as you probably are aware of – refers to a class of cosmetic surgery in which a patient has a doctor remove unwanted body fat from the arms, legs, waist, or other areas of the body. The surgery is purely aesthetic and is not performed for medical reasons.

The origin of the word is well understood, with lipo being a synonym for lipid (fat), and sculpting obviously referring to the body work performed by the surgeons as part of the liposculpture treatment.
